We’ll come and conduct a thorough, objective investigation and after reviewing all the evidence, present you with the findings. Public property investigations are carried out in the same way private home investigations are, scientifically and professionally.

The California Ghost Hunters will investigate private residences, business locations, hotels, inns, schools, theaters, hospitals, restaurants, wineries, ships, lighthouses, fire stations, jails, historical locations, and any other location we deem would be a good place to investigate. We also will travel. For investigations outside of California please give us some advanced notice.
We start with the client providing a tour of the location. By walking through the location with the client, the client will be able to give us a detailed explanation of what activity has been occurring in which areas (the hot spots of the location). The Lead Investigator and the Tech department will then decide what equipment will be used in which areas. We ask that any one who has had an encounter on the property be interviewed before the investigation. This will be kept in your private file so we can reference it later to see if our paranormal accounts match up with yours.
We will set up a DVR system (A DVR is a security system that allow us to record in complete darkness with night vision cameras it is recorded and saved so we may review it later). We will also use hand-held video cameras (Sony Handy Cams with night vision) in different locations in addition to the DVR, especially in the hot spots of the location (A hot spot is where the activity is said to happen with the most frequency). We will take photos throughout the investigation as well to try and capture even more evidence. We also use digital voice recorders to try and catch EVP's ( EVP's are voices that are not heard but show up on recording devices with out any one hearing them).
We will also record and document the EMF in a location as well. EMF, or Electromagnetic Field, is measured with different devices. It is a source of energy that is created in all kinds of different ways, by lots of different devices or from the earth itself. Some say a spirit or entity will give off EMF or cause a spike on meters. It is said that they use this EMF to manifest in some way, move an object, communicate, etc.)
We monitor the temperature in the locations to watch for cold spots. (Cold spots are thought to be caused by an entity or spirit when they are pulling the energy out of the air to manifest in some way, which leaves a cold spot where the energy is absent. When this happens some times you will see a sudden drop in the temperature, some times as much as 5 degrees or more. This can some times be followed by the feeling of being watched, a manifestation of a spirit of entity in some form or other or some thing happening.)
Even though you may be experiencing activity in a certain areas, it is likely we will investigate most if not the whole location. Spirits or entities will not always be in the hot spots at the location. Once we are up and running, you can expect the investigation to last approximately four to eight hours and maybe more. As you may know, paranormal activity is unpredictable and thus investigation times will vary. Your location may warrant a shorter investigation or, if quite active, may run longer than the norm. We don't want to leave in the middle of the activity peaking. We ask that the person(s) that contacted us be present on the property but away from the investigation until we feel we have concluded our investigation.We utilize a variety of equipment on our investigations. The most important of these tools would be the Digital Video Recorder system. With a DVR system we can set up IR (Infrared) cameras around the location to monitor what is going on and hopefully catch any activity that may occur. The IR cameras can “see” in the dark, so having no lighting is not a problem!
We also use EMF detectors (Electromagnetic Field detectors) to detect electromagnetic energy (this energy is often present along with paranormal activity). Digital thermometers will register the temperature of the room and will help reveal and validate cold spots. Cold spots sometimes are experienced when dealing with the paranormal. We also will use various hand-held camcorders, flashlights, and digital audio recorders. These are used to do an EVP sessions (Electronic Voice Phenomena) with any spirits or entity that may be at the location. EVP's are voices that can be captures on an audio recorder, but are not heard at the time of the original recording.
It usually takes about two to three weeks to review the evidence and compile the results. We may ask to set up another investigation at that time. Some times the data we compile during an investigation is inconclusive or we just don't get any thing, or we may have something that needs further study to either disprove or validate you claims. Once the investigation(s) are over we will set up an appointment to come and meet with you to discuss the findings of the investigation. At the meeting, we will reveal our personal experiences (If we had any), tell you what the evidence revealed, and if any of your experiences were logically explained or if we were able to debunk (find other explanations for) what is going on during the investigation process.
